New Student Information

Four new tabs have been added to the Student Info area of Homeschool Minder: Appointments/Chores, Reading Lists, Field Trips, and Community Service. These new tabs give users greater flexibility in their homeschool setup and expand the capabilities of Homeschool Minder. In addition, all information housed on these tabs may be printed using Homeschool Minder’s new report options!

-          Appointments/Chores Tab: Use this tab to schedule both one-time only and reoccurring appointments—such as Doctor or Dentist appointments—and chores—such as weekly household chores—for a specific student.

-          Reading Lists Tab: This tab is used to add notes pertaining to reading activities for each student as well as to define the different reading list types you use in your homeschool (magazines, video books, encyclopedia, etc.).

-          Field Trips: Any field trip information you wish to record will be housed on this tab. Define as many field trip types as you wish!

-          Community Service: Store important community service information for each student on this new tab. In addition, Version 2.0’s new reports includes a Community Service Evaluation Form which may be printed out and given to the community service’s supervisor so that he/she can assign a rating to the student’s performance.

New Calendar Features

Calendar Module now includes options to Add Field Trips, Appointments and Chores directly from the Calendar Module. This information also appears on the respective tab in the Student’s record.

The Calendar Module now allows you to Print the calendar showing all Assignments (from the Gradebooks), all Lesson Plan Activities (from the Lesson Plan module), all Field Trips, all Appointments and Chores, and Attendance information that appears on calendar for the “view” you are printing. You can print the 1-Day view, 5 or 7-Day view or the entire 31-Day view.

New Reports

Several new reports have been added to Homeschool Minder that are designed to yield a variety of different information in desktop quality, concise, and easy-to-understand formats.

-        Lesson Plan Activity: The Lesson Plan Activity Report will allow you to print the activity entries under the Instructional Plans tab for a specific date range.

-        Gradebook: A student- and course-specific report that reflects all assignments and the associated date, score, and grade per assignment.

-         Monthly Attendance: You specify the date range for this report and the system then lists the total amount of hours/days of attendance per month per student.

-         Transcript by Course: This new Transcript format allows users to sort the Transcript by Course rather than by Year.

-        Student Assignments: There are two Student Assignments Reports—one which allows you to select a specific student(s) and list his/her assignments for a specific date range; one which allows you to report this information for all of your students. Both reports give you the flexibility of defining the specific date range on which the report will be based.

-          Appointments/Chores (Selected Students or All Students): There are two Appointment/Chores reports—one allows you to report information for a specific student(s); the other allows you to quickly print this information for all students. Both reports correspond with information entered on the new Appointments/Chores tab (in Student Records). Both reports reflect all appointments and chores scheduled for your students.

-         Reading List (Selected Students or All Students): These reports correspond with the new Reading List tab in Student Records and list students’ reading assignments. You choose the date range and whether to reflect only completed assignments, uncompleted assignments, or both completed and uncompleted assignments. Additionally, you can print this report for only selected students or for all students.

-          Field Trips (Selected Students or All Students): Both of these reports are associated with the new Field Trips tab in Student Records and display all field trips that have been taken and any field trip scheduled for a student. You may choose between printing the report for specific students or all students.

-         Resource List: This is a per student report that gives an overview of those resources used by the student. For example: Textbooks, Basketball, Saxophone, etc.  

-          Community Service List: This report prints information from Student Record’s new Community Service tab. This new report reflects any community service performed by/scheduled for a student.

-         Community Service Evaluation Form: Print out this form to give the supervisor of your student’s community service so that he/she may evaluate your child’s performance. This information can then be entered, stored, and reported on.

Grade Scales Per Subject

Homeschool Minder now offers users the choice of applying either the same grade scale to all courses or to create unique grade scales for each course. This gives users greater control over how Homeschool Minder functions and the ability to customize the program to better suit their homeschool’s needs.
